Why I’m coming to Eastgate

Why I’m coming to Eastgate

There are so many things that excite me about joining the Eastgate community. First and foremost, I am inspired by the founders’ vision. They saw an opportunity to enrich their community with an exciting new school and have already invested a huge amount of their time and energy to bring their vision to life.

The vision that they have Eastgate Academy resonates so strongly with my own philosophy of education. Through my experience teaching, coaching and tutoring I have come to believe that the best learning happens when students, families and teachers are working towards the same goal. The adage that  it takes a village to raise a child is true. It is such a unique opportunity to join the founding families and the first cohort of students to help shape this community from the beginning. Though small, this group will lay the foundations to build a stimulating and supportive environment in which our learners can reach their social, intellectual and physical potential.

The fact that the founding families identified the International Baccalaureate programmes as a key feature of Eastgate Academy is another point of alignment. I am thrilled that they have chosen the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for their launch in September 2021 (you can read more about that here). I have seen the MYP transform students, teachers and schools and I’m honoured to have been appointed to begin establishing the IB programmes at Eastgate Academy.

I also love an adventure, and this endeavour has all the hallmarks of a great one. The goal is clear and worthy, the team is dedicated and courageous, and we are charting the path as we go. Will you join us?
